Do not Breach Promise

Once upon a time in a village in Armenia, a married woman was immediately taken to her husband's house. Because, after marriage, women become the responsibility of her husband.

One day, a man married a woman in the village. Wedding party held with a very luxurious. The man was a noble.

There are hundreds of bridesmaids. Some are horse-drawn carriages, some are riding horses. They all look happy. Many items brought by the groom to be submitted to the bride.

Almost a day last night the party was held. After the party, the boys immediately took his wife to his house. Now, the woman is not the responsibility of her parents. The newlyweds climbed onto a horse-drawn carriage.

The man's house is quite far away. The journey there takes days, while the bridal accompaniment is quite a lot. Travel provisions are not enough for all of them. The sun was so hot that the bridal party ran out of drinking water.

"How is it, we have traveled quite far, but we can not find the source of water, look at the women, they look very tired and thirsty," said one of the men's relatives.

The bridal party paused. The men consulted for water in the nearby river. But there was not a river nearby.

"I will ask the gods to show us where the springs are," said the man.

The man then prayed. He promised the god that if the god showed him the nearest spring, then the man would give the sacrifice. God granted the man's prayer.

"All of you see, over there a new spring comes up! Apparently the gods hear my prayer," the man exclaimed.

The bridal party was excited. They can drink water as much. All thanks to the man's prayer.

After drinking with satisfaction and taking water for supplies, the group immediately prepared to continue the journey.

"We'd better get on with the journey not to get home so soon," said the man.

So they went on their way home. The man forgot his promise to the gods. Let alone give a sacrifice, not even grateful to do it. God is very angry at the wedding party. Gods finally condemned them to stone. It is because their hearts are like rocks.

Until now, when spring appears, there will be the shadow of the man and the horse that became the rock. Parents often tell this story to their children so that the child will never forget his promise.

The moral message of this short collection of folklore is to keep your promise not to be a disrespectful person. Before promising, think in advance whether you can keep it or not. If you can not keep it, it's better not to promise.
